Oakview’s central location between Haliburton village, Minden and Dorset offers our guests easy accessibility to an endless list of summer activities. This Ontario resort is perfect for couples and families. On-site activities include swimming, sunbathing, use of canoes, paddleboats & fishing boats. We offer guided lake tours and boat rentals as well. Three beautiful hiking trails are located at the back of the property. Just off-site there are biking trails, five golf courses, live theatre, white water kayaking and many artist’s studios.
Hiking
The Ridge Trail, The Crest of Kennisis and The Circuit of Five Viewpoints are hiking trails of varying difficulty which have their starting points on the north side of the resort property. They offer spectacular views of lakes, forests, ridges and wildlife. Many other hiking trails are located within a fifteen minute radius of the lodge.
Sand Beach & Swimming
Oakview offers a sand beach for sunbathing, volleyball or badminton. The crystal clear water of Little Hawk Lake invites swimmers of all ages. Our dock provides swimming & diving in deeper water.
Fishing
Little Hawk offers lake trout and bass for fishing. The lake trout in Big Hawk and Little Hawk are unique to the area. There are no smelt for them to eat so their meat is pale orange in colour and has an amazing buttery flavour. You catch them…we’ll clean & cook them!
Boating
Paddleboats,
canoes and fishing boats (one hour per day) are provided at no cost. We also have rental ski boats for tubing, wakeboarding and skiing. Our pontoon boat is also available to rent. It has a second level hard top which offers a great diving platform or perfect spot for sunbathing out on the water. It’s great for day excursions. Pick up your hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks in our Little General Store and you’re set for a day of fun in the sun.
Biking
The Haliburton area offers numerous biking trails ranging from flat and non-strenuous to rugged mountain bike trails. All our located within twenty minutes of Oakview Lodge.
Golf
There are five golf courses located within fifteen minutes of this resort. We would be happy to arrange tee off times and provide an early breakfast for those who like to get an early start to the day.
